Some ground rules.

These are set and enforced by the socialbc.ca moderators.

1. Be kind
   No abusive behaviour towards others
2. Be generous
   With your time and your patience
3. Be curious
   Ask questions (but not too many), be open to learning new things from new people. Don’t spread misinformation or disinformation.
4. Be brave
   It can be hard to admit you're wrong. It can be hard to talk about some subjects. If you feel vulnerable, use a Content Warning, or don't be afraid to ask others to use a Content Warning. Stick up for the under represented, minorities, and victims.
5. Be humble
   if you make a mistake own up to it
6. No Law Enforcement Officers
   In order to provide a safe space for all members, but especially those with diverse lived experiences, we do not accept registrations on this server from RCMP, Police, or other law enforcement entities as there are many other instances for those entities to join Mastodon and the Fediverse. We ask that you respect this limitation.
7. Use Alt Text for Images
   For accessibility of vision-impaired users, we strongly encourage the use of alt-text on all images attached to your content. Many users and instances will also not accept or boost posts that include images without alt text. If your image does not contain alt-text, a bot may warn you of the missing information. You can follow @PleaseCaptionBot@hachyderm.io for helpful reminders.
8. Suggestions - Use Content Warnings Generously - NSFW content may be limited/suspended if reported.
   If you want to avoid sending to the Fediverse as a whole, set your posts to "Followers" by Default rather than Public.
9. Do not post or share any content that is illegal in Canada
10. Do not harass, dogpile, or dox users on this server or other servers. No racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, casteism, fatphobia, or other forms of bigotry.
11. NSFW content and depictions of violence must be behind a content warning.
12. SocialBC.ca is intended for residents and those connected to the province of British Columbia.
13. Business accounts are allowed.
    Don't spam or engage in excessive commercial posting.
